Hello! My name is Vernon Lee Ford III. I was born in Illinois but raised in Lafayette, IN. I am 26 years old, married with two beautiful daughters.
For years, I have known that I was called to serve others in and around my community. So, right after graduating highschool in 2014, I joined the United States Army as a National Guardsman. I am starting year nine of service in that regard. As a young boy, my life was
surrounded by sports. I have been blessed with the opportunity to coach young people ranging in ages 10-18. It is very critical that these ages receive positive influences in their lives as they grow into teenagers and young adults.
My parents divorced when I was 11 years old. As the oldest of three children, I often felt the burden of my single parent. I know first-hand the pressures this puts on each child and parent involved. Having an avenue to "escape for a little while" to take a breath and resettle our hectic lives is more than beneficial for our mental, spiritual, and emotional growth.
I am currently in school obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. These additional tools will enhance my ability to serve my entire community. As | work with 1 More Chance, my mission is to give the youth a chance to express themselves in a space free from judgment or criticism and empower them to be strong leaders for generations to come. I plan to work along side parents, to encourage, and to help in any way possible.
I am pleased to be afforded this opportunity, and I look forward to working with each and every family I come into contact with.
